What is the Constitution Party all about?

The Constitution Party upholds the principles of the U.S. Constitution according to the original intent of the Founding Fathers. We are inspired by Howard Phillips, the founder of our party, who said: "We stand for what George Washington stood for limiting the federal government to its delegated, enumerated functions, and restoring American jurisprudence to its biblical common law foundations."

The Constitution Party traces its origins to 1992, and has run presidential candidates ever since its founding: the 2012 presidential party nominee was former Virginia Congressman Virgil Goode. We are intent on building a party from the ground up, and party members currently serve in a variety of elected positions such as City Council, Sheriff, County Commissioner, and school board.

Our party does not stand alone in advocating a free market of ideas on Election Day ...

"I can't take seriously anyone who takes the Republican or Democratic Party seriously: in part' because both are bought and paid for by Corporate America and special interests."
- Conservative commentator Lou Dobbs

"The only difference between the Republican and Democratic parties is the velocities with which their knees hit the floor when corporations knock on their door."
- Liberal activist Ralph Nader

"A new party is likely to arise because the public holds both Republicans and Democrats responsible for the nation's unsustainable course. Indebtedness cannot increase endlessly. Nor can the no-win wars that have resulted in 'open season' on Americans around the world. One half of the population cannot continue to absorb insults without pushing back."
- Forbes magazine

Again, Howard Phillips: "To capture the Presidency for an agenda of Constitutional renewal, we need a political instrument with clarity of principle and unity of purpose." That's what the Constitution Party is all about.

Why are we suffering economic and divisive woes?

If the next centennial does not find us a great nation ... it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.
-James Garfield, (twentieth president of the United States), 1877

If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.
-Noah Webster
